The Department of Arts and Cultural Management aims to prepare future professionals who will work in the fields of art and design, whose place within Turkish economy is rapidly growing in recent years. Our department’s educational principle is to ensure that the students think not only within certain frameworks, but rather they acquire critical thinking skills and use these skills, and that they graduate as professional directors that can work in the field of arts. Accordingly, our department enables our students to learn the fundamental principles of art and design management and its institutional structure, and have comprehensive knowledge of its relationship with the financial market, in addition to ensuring that they receive high qualifications intellectually and culturally by means of such courses as history of art, sociology, sociology of art, philosophy of art, contemporary art, critical theory, philosophy and history of music. Combining these two elements required in art and design management sectors, our students can work in museums, art galleries, art and culture magazines, biennials, auction houses, fair organizations, art and cultural foundations, art festivals etc, in institutional positions as professional directors and organization jobs. In addition to this, they can work as art critics, editors, writers, art consultants and curators. Furthermore, our students may also work and build a career in media and entertainment sectors.
