Chemistry Laboratory

MENU

The General Chemistry Laboratory is designed to enable students to learn fundamental chemical concepts through experimental methods and to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through hands-on applications. The laboratory infrastructure provides a safe, controlled, and measurable environment in which chemical processes can be examined, while systematically developing students’ analytical thinking and experimental problem-solving skills.

Within the scope of the laboratory, a variety of fundamental experiments are conducted, including the investigation of the physical and chemical properties of substances, techniques for preparing standard solutions, analysis of acid–base equilibria, determination of the amount of water of crystallization in hydrated compounds, pH measurements, and the determination of refractive index and °Brix values using a refractometer. Through these experiments, students gain technical competence in measurement accuracy, laboratory safety, and reliable data collection procedures.

During the experimental studies, students:

  • Reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical applications,
  • Learn quantitative analysis and measurement techniques,
  • Develop the ability to interpret and report experimental data within the framework of the scientific method,
  • Strengthen their skills in scientific reasoning, systematic observation, and problem solving.
The General Chemistry Laboratory provides a modern, well-equipped, and safe learning environment aimed not only at helping students understand fundamental principles of chemistry but also at equipping them with an experimental perspective that enables them to apply these principles in engineering, health, food, and industrial applications.
