The Advanced Electronics and Communications Laboratory, located within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Okan University, provides a comprehensive education and research environment where students can reinforce their theoretical knowledge in modern electronics and communication technologies through advanced practical applications. The laboratory is structured around three specialized sub-laboratories that bring together different fields of expertise, aiming to equip students with interdisciplinary engineering skills.
The first component, the Digital Design Laboratory, focuses on digital design and embedded systems applications using microcontroller and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array)–based platforms. In this environment, students design, test, and analyze digital circuits using microcontroller development boards, FPGA modules, and mixed-signal oscilloscopes. These tools play a critical role in transforming theoretical concepts from digital electronics and embedded systems into real engineering applications.
The VLSI Laboratory (Very-Large-Scale Integration) offers education and research opportunities in the design of analog and digital integrated circuits. The laboratory is equipped with advanced integrated circuit design software and development tools, enabling students to create and simulate their own custom chip designs. In addition, advanced testing equipment—such as dual-output signal generators—supports analog signal generation and detailed circuit analysis.
The third component, the Wireless Communications Laboratory, supports a wide range of studies from fundamental communication experiments to advanced software-defined radio (SDR) applications. Using RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and communication experiment platforms, students gain hands-on experience with modulation and demodulation techniques, spectrum analysis, and modern wireless communication protocols.
The Advanced Electronics and Communications Laboratory aims to prepare engineering students with strong practical and research-oriented competencies in critical areas such as electronic circuit design, digital systems, integrated circuit technologies, and wireless communication applications. Through this integrated infrastructure, students develop the technical knowledge and skills required for advanced engineering research and modern communication technologies.

Advanced Electronics and Communication Laboratory at Istanbul Okan University consists of three research and education laboratories.
In the Digital Design Laboratory, education and research on microcontrollers and FPGA are carried out. There are various microcontroller and FPGA boards and modules of these boards in the laboratory. There is also a complex signal oscilloscope to measure and analyse complex digital circuits.
In the digital design laboratory, students have done projects such as the following.

VLSI Laboratory
Analogue and digital integrated circuit design is carried out in the VLSI Laboratory. Since Istanbul Okan University is a member of Europractice, it has access to advanced technologies in the field of integrated circuits.Cadence design environment used by integrated circuit design companies is used as design environment.
The VLSI Laboratory also has a dual output signal generator to generate analogue signals.

Wireless Communication Laboratory
In the Communication Laboratory, research and education are carried out in a wide range of communication fields, from basic communication experiments to new generation software-based radios. RF signal generator to generate high frequency signals and spectrum analyser to analyse RF signals are also available in the laboratory.
