The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Okan University, aims to educate dietitians who are guided by science, committed to the principles and reforms of Atatürk, respectful of universal values, and equipped with a strong sense of professional ethics.
Our department adopts a preventive healthcare approach and is dedicated to training professionals who are sensitive to individual and societal nutrition problems, capable of analyzing scientific data and generating solutions, and competent in providing nutrition counseling and education.
Established in 2009, our department began admitting students in the 2011-2012 academic year and graduated its first cohort in 2015. Since its foundation, it has aimed to achieve a distinguished position in its field through high-quality education and scientific productivity.
Our education program is structured based on the curricula of leading national and international universities, as well as the National Core Education Program (ÇEP) in Nutrition and Dietetics, and is continuously updated in line with current developments in nutrition science. Our students receive education in a technology-supported learning environment where they can reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical applications.
The academic staff of our department consists of experienced faculty members who stand out with their scientific contributions and provide strong mentorship to students. Thanks to this robust academic structure, our graduates gain the competence to work in a wide range of fields, including hospitals and healthcare institutions, the food industry, research and development, production, and management.
