03 July 2025

Our University proudly took part in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2025, held in Istanbul from June 16 to 19, reaffirming its commitment to global sustainability goals on an international platform.

Representing our university, delegates attended a wide array of sessions focused on sustainability, digital transformation, and social impact, gaining insights to enhance institutional strategies and observing best practices from around the world.

Inspiring Opening Ceremony

The congress commenced with an impactful Opening Ceremony, where the most outstanding initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were showcased. The announcement of SDG-focused project winners offered inspiring examples of how universities and institutions are taking concrete steps toward a sustainable future.

Participation in 14 Thematic Seminars

Throughout the four-day congress, our University representatives actively participated in 14 different seminars covering topics such as climate action, sustainable innovation, inclusive education, and global collaboration. These sessions provided deep insights into the multifaceted nature of sustainable development.

Reconnecting and Building New Collaborations

On the third day of the congress, our representatives had the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and former collaborators. These reunions not only boosted morale but also opened new doors for future academic and professional partnerships.

During the final day, our delegates engaged in one-on-one discussions with global experts and pioneers in sustainability, laying the groundwork for meaningful future collaborations. As a university, we place high importance on participating in such international events, where academic development aligns with social responsibility.

Step by Step Toward a Sustainable Future

The Global Sustainable Development Congress 2025 offered our University a rich experience in both academic and strategic terms. The knowledge and insights gained throughout the congress will guide future projects focused on sustainability, contribute to societal well-being, and support student-centered development programs.

As İstanbul Okan University, we remain committed to thinking, creating, and developing solutions for a sustainable future.
